Warwickshire JBB Secretarys Update
July 2011
Secretaries Update 1st July 2011
Dear Colleagues
We are facing an unprecedented attack on our pay, conditions and pensions as I know you are all very much aware. The PFEW has been working tirelessly on your behalf. The most positive way in which you our members can contribute is to lobby your local MP. It is very apparent to us that by and large they have a limited understanding of policing and it is therefore important that we do our very best to ensure that their understanding of the role and the daily pressures you face in this unique and sometimes dangerous job are made clear.
It is important that they know how the changes and cuts we are facing impact on you and your families. Tell them!
Below are two emails. The first is from Metin Enver PFEW Head of Communications and the second from Labour MP Theresa Pearce. Both are self explanatory. Email your MP now and urge them to attend the adjournment debate on the 5th July 2011.
Emailing them is easy. Use the link below and follow the online instructions all you need to know is your home postcode.
Regards
Sue Biddle

Dear colleagues,
Please see below the very supportive email we have received from Teresa Pearce MP, who was elected as Labour MP for Erith and Thamesmead in May 2010.
Let's take full advantage of the adjournment debate Teresa has secured and encourage local MPs to attend and voice the concerns of the membership.
I have replied to Teresa thanking her for her support and for securing the adjournment debate.
This demonstrates how the members really can make a difference by directly lobbying their MP.
Forwarded for your information.
Regards
Metin
A young police office came to see me in at my surgery to tell me about the concerns he has for
his own career and for the general morale of the police staff in light of the cuts to pay and conditions.
I was moved by his comments so have managed to secure an adjournment debate next week on the subject.
The Debate is called "Effect of Government policies on police forces" and will be from 9:30 am to 11:00 am
On Tuesday 5th July.
I wondered if you wanted to ask your members to lobby their MPs to get them to attend the debate as I believe
most of the discussion around the cuts has been from the point of view of how the public will be affected rather
than the affects on the force itself.
